Daily Roundup: 5/7/10

Moyer Pitches Shutout: Jamie Moyer pitched a 2-hit complete game shutout in today's 7-0 Phillies win. The Braves were victimized by Moyer's control and velocity. That's right, velocity (or lack thereof)! Moyer, 47, became the oldest pitcher ever to pitch a complete game shutout. It is an amazing feat.

Braves' starter Derek Lowe got crushed by the Phillies. Lowe allowed 11 hits and 7 runs in 5 innings. This is just another example of how the Phillies are pounding quality pitchers. Jayson Werth, who is on a tear, hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 3rd to give the Phils a 3-0 lead. The bottom of the 5th was a big inning for the Phils. Raul Ibanez and Wilson Valdez both knocked in 2 runs in the inning.

The Phillies and Braves will meet again tomorrow at 3:10pm. This game will be nationally televised on Fox. Joe Blanton will be on the mound for the Phils. Charlie Manuel will miss the game due to a personal issue.
